J.L Schnabel is having a solo show this upcoming First Friday, April 2nd, at Topstitch Boutique. She features portraits of women based on the poem ‘The Black Art’ by Anne Sexton, as well as her over infatuation with Joan of Arc. She states, “I’ve been thinking about the female as a complicated vessel, she is at once on the brink of madness while at the same time a bloody warrior. She has visions from ‘god’ but can’t get out of bed to go food shopping. She is psychically in tune but can’t foresee her own doom.”
The opening night will also be a special bloodmilk trunk show where she’ll be unveiling a lot of the new jewels she’s been working on.
